Mark Haydock hosted the British Single Arm Championship on Saturday. The turn out was fewer than originally expected but the lifters had a great day. Matthew Wells was the overall champion receiving the George Dick Memorial Shield. Having missed 2 years of this event due to Covid, the shield passed from our 2019 Winner – Aandy Tomlin. A big thank you to our promoter mark Haydock and to Christopher Bass for travelling over for the day to look after scoring and help with refereeing!
Lifters & Officials at the 2022 British Olympic Champs
A few words from Co-Promoter Steve Gardner:
It was a wonderful day at the British Olympics competition today in Burton. Big thanks to Pete Tryner for making his facility available for the event.
We only had 6 lifters (just the way it panned out.. I had at least a dozen who wanted to lift but couldn’t because of work, holiday and injury etc) but small in number never the less the standard was amazing.
When it was all over it could have been any one from three lifters to take the De Yoxall shield ( which has been presented since 1985.. every year apart from 2020)
In the final analysis Steve Andrews came out as the Overall winner ahead of Thomas Meakin and then Richard Metcalf with only a couple of amended points between them.
Well done to all who attended to load lift and officiate ( and support) your work made it a memorable day for all!
The IAWA World Postal Championships has been announced! The “Andy Goddard Memorial”.
Andy was a great friend and supporter of the IAWA and this event is done in Andy’s memory.
As it has been the past few years, the lifts for this World Postal will be the first day lifts of the upcoming World Championship.
Read the the info sheet as it outlines the “rules of the competition”.
Send your results to Al Myers at amyers@usawa.com. Also, please send in the official entry form with your club results. If you have more club entries than on the entry form just include extra entry forms.
